In Okinawan, both "chimu" and "kukuru" refer to the "heart." "Timugukuru" is an even stronger expression, meaning "sincerity" or "true heart." The name "Shimakutuba Juku Timugukuru" expresses our mission: to teach Shimakutuba with passion and sincerity, and to pass on the very "spirit" that is at the core of the language.
Some feelings and sensibilities can only be conveyed through Shimakutuba and are lost in standard Japanese. We are committed to passing on the kindness, faith, and unique "goodness" that is expressed through this language.
